ABSTRACT

Tumor chemoprevention and treatment are two approaches aimed at improving the survival of patients with cancers. An ideal anti-tumor drug is that which not only kills tumor cells but also alleviates tumor-causing risk factors, such as precancerous lesions, and prevents tumor recurrence. Chinese herbal monomers are considered to be ideal treatment agents due to their multi-target effects. Astragaloside has been shown to possess tumor chemoprevention, direct anti-tumor, and chemotherapeutic drug sensitization effects. In this paper, we review the effects of astragaloside on tumor prevention and treatment and provide directions for further research.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the feasibility and clinical value of sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy through cervix-uterine combined two-step injection with two tracers in patients with early stage endometrial cancer.Methods:From July 2019 to April 2021, a total of 73 patients, aged (54.2±3.3) year, who were preoperatively diagnosed as stage Ⅰ-Ⅱ endometrial cancer (including 56 low-risk patients and 17 medium-high risk patients) in Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University were selected. According to the different sites of tracer injection, the patients were randomly divided into three groups: cervical injection group (25 cases): 1 ml of nano-carbon was used to inject at 3 and 9 o'clock in the cervix; uterine injection group (21 cases): the magnetic resonance imaging examination was performed to determine the location of the lesion, and 4 ml of methylene blue was injected into the uterine body at 2 sites where the lesion was located; combined injection group (27 cases): cervical injection of nano-carbon (1 ml) combined with uterine injection of methylene blue (4 ml). The SLN in all patients were identified under laparoscopy, removed, and followed by frozen pathological examination. Pathological ultra-staging was performed if the postoperative pathological outcome of SLN was negative. The total detection rate of SLN, bilateral pelvic SLN detection rate, sensitivity, negative predictive value, and location of SLN in each group were calculated and compared.Results:(1) In 73 patients with endometrial cancer, the overall detection rate of SLN was 88% (64/73), the detection rate of bilateral pelvic SLN was 67% (49/73), and the detection rate of para-aortic SLN was 49% (36/73). The overall detection rate of SLN (71%, 15/21) and bilateral pelvic SLN (43%, 9/21) in the intrauterine injection group were significantly lower than those in the cervical injection group [92% (23/25), 76% (19/25), respectively] and the combined injection group [96% (26/27), 78% (21/27), respectively; all P<0.05]; the detection rate of para-aortic SLN in the cervical injection group (28%, 7/25) was significantly lower than those in the intrauterine injection group and combined injection group [52% (11/21) and 67% (18/27), respectively; both P<0.05]. Among 73 cases with endometrial cancer, 9 had lymph node metastasis confirmed by postoperative pathological examination, 8 of them had lymph node metastasis detected by SLN and 1 had no lymph node metastasis detected by SLN, with a total sensitivity of 89% and a negative predictive value of 98%. The sensitivity and negative predictive value of cervical injection group and combined injection group were 100%, while the sensitivity and negative predictive value of intrauterine injection group were 67% and 95%. Among 56 low-risk patients, only one patient with lymph node metastasis was confirmed by postoperative pathology by SLN detection, and the metastasis rate was 2% (1/56), and the sensitivity and negative predictive value were 100%. Lymph node metastasis was confirmed in 8 of 17 patients (8/17) with a sensitivity of 88% and a negative predictive value of 90%. (2) A total of 459 SLN were detected in 73 endometrial cancer patients, with the highest proportion of external iliac (33.3%, 153/459).The obturator foramen was 25.3% (116/459), para-aortic 19.6% (90/459), iliac 12.0% (55/459), and presacral 9.8% (45/459). The proportion of para-aortic SLN in the cervical injection group was 12.4% (21/169), which were significantly lower than that in the intrauterine injection group and the combined injection group [27.4% (26/95) and 22.1% (43/195), respectively; both P<0.05]. (3) Pathological super-staging results: among 64 patients with negative SLN routine paraffin pathology, 4 cases of lymph node micro-metastases and 1 case of isolated tumor cell metastasis were detected, and the SLN micro-metastases rate was 8% (5/64), including 2 cases of low-risk patients and 3 cases of medium-high risk patients. Conclusions:SLN biopsy has high sensitivity and negative predictive value in patients with early endometrial cancer and could be used as an alternative to systematic lymph node dissection in low-risk patients. The SLN mapping through cervical-uterine combined injection could further improve the detection rate effectively and avoid the missed detection of positive para-aortic lymph node, especially for high-risk patients or patients with fundal tumor involvement.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To evaluate the incidence and microbiological profile of meningitis and/or bacteremia after craniotomy in patients with glioma and analyze the risk factors relevant to postoperative meningitis.Methods:All demographic data,etiological data and clinical data for hospitalized patients who underwent craniotomy in Dept.of Neurosurgery of Peking Union Medical College Hospital between Jan.2013 to Dec.2017 were recorded.Results:The incidence of post-craniotomy meningitiswas 7.73%,bacteremia was 2.21% and meningitis combined with bacteremia was 1.10%.The positive rate for cerebrospinal fluid culture was 78.57%.Among the 11 cases of meningitis,20 bacteria were detected,and the most common gram-positive bacteria were:epidermal Staphylococcus (3 case,15.0%),and hemolytic Staphylococcus (3 case,15.0%);the most common gram-negative one was Klebsiella pneumoniae (2 case,10.0%).Among the 5 cases of bacteremia,Klebsiella pneumoniae was the most common one (3 cases,60.0%).Most of the gram-positive bacteria were sensitive to vancomycin and were resistant to penicillin G.Most of the gram-negative bacteria were sensitive to the 3rd generation of cephalosporin and meropenem.Among all the 16 patients,13 were good in prognosis (81.3%) while 3 (18.8%) were poor in prognosis,with 2 deaths and 1 discharged automatically.Among the 11 patients with meningitis,7 patients (63.6%) were male and 7(63.6%) were older than 50 years old.The lesionsin the 6 patients located in the frontal lobe (54.5%) and the glioma in 6 patients was at WHO grade Ⅳ (54.5%).Three patients were diagnosed as diabetes before the surgery (27.3%).Conclusion:Postoperative meningitis and bacteremia can occur in patients with glioma.The pathogens and drug susceptibility are different.The risk factors for meningitis after craniotomy should be concerned before making a treatment plan.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the protective effects of astragalosides Ⅳ (ASI) on high glucose-induced renal proximal tubular epithelial cells (NRK-52E).Methods NRK-52E were cultured and divided randomly into three groups:control group,high glucose group (HG in short),ASI groups (with various doses).Cells were treated with increasing concentrations of ASI (20,40,80 and 100 μg/ml) for 24 h in high glucose and we also stimulated cells in ASI 100 μg/ml with high glucose for various lengths of time.The apoptosis rate was detected by flow cytometric analysis.The mRNA and protein expression of transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1),a-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA),Smad2,Smad3 and their phosphorylated forms were detected by real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and Western blot,respectively.Results Compared with the control group,apoptosis was increased in the high glucose group (P < 0.01).However,ASI inhibited high glucose-induced cell apoptosis in a dose-dependent manner,with a maximal inhibitory effect achieved at 100 μg/ml (P < 0.05).The significant inhibition caused by ASI was observed at 8h after the start of pretreatment (P < 0.05) and increased in a time-dependent manner.ASI can inhibit the expression of TGF-β1,α-SMA,Smad2,Smad3 both at mRNA and protein level.Conclusions ASI inhibited NRK-52E cells apoptosis induced by high glucose and reduced expression of TGF-β1,α-SMA,Smad2,Smad3 both at the mRNA and protein level in NRK-52E cells,thus delayed epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition progress.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the best keV conditions of show hepatocellular carcinoma lesions with the best contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR)and image quality,and evaluate the effect of monochromatic energy imaging on the detection of hepatocellular carcinomas.Methods The dual-energy CT imaging of 30 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma were analyzed retrospectively.Monochromatic energy images (40 to 140 keV,interval 10 keV)were produced by the dual-engery software.CNR and image noise of monochromatic energy,100 keV and 140 keV images were measured respectively.The CNR and the imaging noise were optimized.The results between the monochromatic energy images and the mixed energy images were compared by using the two related samples of non-parameter rank test.Results In the arterial phase, the monochromatic energy level with the highest CNR was concentrated at 70 keV,and the lowest level of the image noises was at 70 and 80 keV.The images at 70 keV were chosen to be compared with the fusion images.The CNR values of the monochromatic images at 70 keV were similar as those at 100 keV (1 .68 ± 1 .04 vs 1 .88 ± 1 .59 ,P =0 .149 ),and significantly higher than those at 140 keV (1 .68 ± 1 .04 vs 0.62±0.92,P =0.000).The image noises at 70 keV were similar as those at 140 keV (6.52±1.53 vs 7.60±2.73,P =0.050), and significantly lower than those at 100 keV (6.52±1.53 vs 8.55±1.11,P =0.000).Conclusion The monochromatic energy imaging at 70 keV can improve the CNR of the hepatocellular carcinoma lesions without reducing the image quality,which will help the lesion detection.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the CT features of hepatic echinococcosis in children.Methods Clinical and CT data of 27 cases with hepatic echinococcosis confirmed by pathology and/or serology were retrospectively analyzed.Results Totally there were 26 cases of cystic echinococcosis and 1 case of alveolar echinococcosis.Ten cases were with simple hepatic echinococcosis and 17 cases with other organic echinococcosis,18 cases of intrahepatic single hydatid and 9 cases of intrahepatic multiple hydatid.A total of 1 alveolar lesion and 47 cystic lesions were found,including unilocular cyst accounted for 51.06% (24/47),cysts with collapse of the internal capsule accounted for 42.55% (20/47),cysts with wall calcification accounted for 4.26% (2/47) and multiple cysts accounted for 2.13% (1/47).There was no solid lesions.The cyst diameters which were larger than 5 cm accounted for 74.47% (35/47).Conclusion The CT can qualitatively diagnose hepatic echinococcosis in children.It is a reliable method of examination.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the effect of astragaloside on TGF-β1,SMAD2/3,and α-SMA expression in the kidney tissue of diabetic KKAy mice,and evaluate its potential role in renal interstitial fibrosis.Methods 20 type 2 diabetic KKAy mice were randomly divided into model group and astragaloside group,while 10 male C57BL/6J mice were selected as the control.Astragaloside at 40 mg · kg-1 · d-1 was given when the KKAy mice fed with high-fat diet to 14 weeks old.The mice in the control and model group received normal saline at 40 mg · kg-1 · d-1.Blood glucose meter was used to detect the blood glucose value of each mice at 16th,20th and 24th week.The mice were killed at 24 weeks old and the kidney tissue samples were collected.Pathology morphological changes were observed.Results (1) blood glucose value:cmpared with the control group,the blood glucose value of KKAy mice at 14 week increased significantly,and that of model group also increased significantly at 16th,20th and 24th week (P<0.05);the blood glucose value of astragaloside group decreased compared with control group (P<0.05).(2) Morphology of kidney:in the control group,the glomerular and tubular had clear structure,there was no renal interstitial fibrosis;in the model group,the renal glomerular mesangial matrix had broaden,mesangial cell had increased,renal tubular epithelial cell cytoplasm showed vacuole degeneration,renal interstitial inflammatory cell had increaised.In astragaloside group,there were few renal tubular epithelial cell cytoplasm,and there was no obvious fibrosis.(3)TGF-β1,SMAD2/3,and α-SMA expression levels of the kidney issuse:compared with control group,mice in model group up-regulated TGF-β1,SMAD2/3 and α-SMA expression (P< 0.05).TGF-β1,SMAD2/3,and α-SMA expression levels in astragaloside group were significantly lower than those in the model group (P<0.05).There was few phosphorylated SMAD2/3 expression in renal tubular and glomerular nuclei,while that of model group increased (P<0.01),and compared with model group,that of the astragaloside group decreased (P<0.05).Conclusion Astragaloside can delay the renal fibrosis process in diabetic mice by influencing the TGF-β/SMADS signaling pathway and down-regulating TGF-β1 and α-SMA expression,thus to relieve renal fibrosis in diabetic mice.

ABSTRACT

The male patient was 72 years old with 10-years hoarseness. Electronic laryngoscopy showed a great pink lobulated lesion at the left back of soft palate and lateral pharyngeal wall, close to the choanal region. Neck CT revealed irregular signal intensities of soft tissue at the left wall of nasopharynx, side wall and posterior wall of oropharynx and hypopharynx, bilateral submandibular and glottic region. The patient underwent operation treatment. Histopathology showed the mass was composed of identical mature rhabdomyoma cells, with scarce interstitial substance. The tumor cells was round, oval or polygonal with eosinophilic cytoplasmic granules, longitudinal grain or grain was occasionally found. Some tumor cells arranged in disorder with match structure. Pathological diagnosis was rhabdomyoma.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To observe the protection of vitamin C on the cardiac injury induced by 50 nm titanium dioxide inmice.METHODS Kunming mice were ad mistered by ig of vitamin C 100,200 and 400 mg·kg -1 for 2 d.And then the mice were ad mistered by ig of nano-TiO2 2 g·kg -1 and vitamin C (100.0,200.0 and 400.0 mg·kg -1 )for 3 d,the interval of treatment with nano-TiO2 and vitamin C was 4 h.The mice were scarified 24 h later after the last ad ministration.Electrocardiogra m (ECG)was determinated by physiological recorder.The myocardial enzy mes activities in serum and superoxide dismutase (SOD)and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)activities in serum and myocardial tissue were determinated by bioche mical method.Cometassay was used to detect the DNA da mage of the heart. Heart tissue was used for histopathological exa mination by HE staining.RESULTS Co mpared with the control,ECG showed higher S-T and T-wave a mplitude of nano-TiO2 2 g·kg -1 (P<0.05).The myocar-dial enzy mes activities significantly increased and activities of SOD and GSH-Px significantly decreased in nano-TiO2 group,compared with the control group(P <0.05).Cometassay showed that olive tail mo ment (OTM)was significantly increased after nano-TiO2 2 g·kg -1 ,compared with the control group (P<0.05).The histopathology showed ede ma of myocardial cells,myofibril disorders and increasing infla mmatory cells.Vita min C 100,200 and 400 mg·kg -1 can decrease S-T in ECG,OTM,myocardial enzy mes activities,increase the SOD and GSH-Px activities in serum and myocardial tissue;reduce myocardial hypertrophy and infla mmatory cells.CONCLUSION nano-TiO2 can induce myocardial injury inmice and vitamin C can alleviate the da mage.The mechanism may be associated with the antioxidant ability of vitamin C inmyocardial tissue.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the application value of CT/MR image fusing in gross tumor volume (GTV) delineation of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.Methods Twenty-nine patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma to be treated with radical surgery underwent routine CT scanning,MR T2-weighted imaging (T2WI) and diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) before surgery.Diffusion-sensitive gradient b values were taken at 400,600,and 800 s/mm2.GTVs were delineated on the CT image,CT/ MR T2WI,and CT/MR DWI respectively.The MR T2W1 image was used as the intermediary for the fusion of the CT image and MR DWI image.The length of GTVs measured under different imaging conditions were compared with the length of the resected specimen of esophagus.Results The GTV length was (44.94 ± 18.46) and (45.05 ±21.47) mm on the CT images and CT/MR T2WI images respectively.When the b values were 400,600,and 800 s/mm2,the esophageal carcinoma GTV length on CT/MR DWI images was (42.12 ± 17.79),(41.18 ± 17.17) and (39.77 ± 17.66) mm,respectively.The coefficient between the esophageal carcinoma GTV lengths on CT/MR DWI images and the pathological lesion lengths was 0.928,0.926 and 0.927 respectively.Conclusions CT/MR DWI images displays esophageal carcinoma GTV length more accurately,thus guiding the delineation of GTV effectively.

ABSTRACT

Hyaluronan acid sodium gels are used in ophthalmic surgery, orthopedic treatment and cosmetic surgery. In 2009,there were 12 domestic manufacturers in China producing 33 kinds of products. 23 kinds of imported products were allowed by SFDA to sale in the meantime. Since manufacturers use different production processes, product performances are quite different. According to the GB/T 16886. 1-2001, we designed a pilot program to evaluate the sodium hyaluronate gel products comprehensively in this paper. The results showed that, except chromosome aberration test of gel A and subchronic systemic toxicity of gel C appeared positive, the remaining samples of the test results were negative. This article provides a reference to write standard of cross-linked hyaluronic sodium gel and the revision of standard YY0308-2004.

ABSTRACT

According to the requirements of ISO10993-11.2006 and ISO10993-6:r2007 standards, we used SD rats for evaluating the subchronic systemic toxicity and local implantation response of two kinds of sodium hyaluronan gels with different application. The results of 90d subchronic toxicity study by intraperitoneal route showed that the animals of the tested group and control group grew normally. There were no differences in the increases of the body weight, haematological index and clinical biochemistry indexes. The examination of gross pathology and histopathology revealed no abnormal changes caused by the test substance during the process. But there was different degree test article residual in the body of the animals at the end of the experiment. It was observed in the local subcutaneous implantation that at the early stage, gel A had mild inflammatory response, cysts were seen clearly, and new blood capillaries were visible at local area. Later, the wall got thinner and dense with little tissue reaction. Gel B also had mild inflammatory response earlier, but it totally disappeared after 14 days of implantation. It can be concluded that the gel products with different characteristics decided its degradation and metabolic process in the body of the test animals and therefore the areas of application of the products clinically. Meanwhile, we compared the evaluation method of subchronic systemic toxicity and local implantation response in risk assessment, providing reference for the choice of biological safe testing.

ObjectiveTo analyze the application value of diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWMRI) in gross tumor volume (GTV) delineation of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).MethodsTwenty-nine patients with esophageal SCC treated with radical surgery were analyzed.Routine CT scan,MRI T2-weighted and DWMRI were employed before surgery;diffusion-sensitive gradient b-values were taken 400,600 and 800 s/mm2.GTVs were delineated using CT,MRI T2-weighted images and DWMRI under different b-value images.The length of GTVs measured under different images was compared with the pathological length and confirm the most accurate imaging condition.Use radiotherapy planning system to fuse DWMRI images and CT images to investigate the possibility of delineate GTVs on fused images.ResultsThe difference of GTV length value between CT,T2 WI images and specimen was 3.36 mm and 2.84 mm.When b =400,600 and 800 s/mm2,the difference between GTV length value on the DWMRI images and on specimen was 0.47 mm,-0.47 mm and - 1.53 mm;the correlation coefficient of the measuring esophageal lengths on DWMRI images and the pathological lengths was 0.928,0.927 and 0.938.DWMRI images and CT images could fuse accurately on radiotherapy planning system.GTV margin could.show clearly on fused images.ConclusionsDWMRI images can display the esophageal carcinoma lengths and margin accurately.When DWMRI images fused with CT images,GTV margin could show clearly,it can be used to delineate GTV accurately.

ABSTRACT

Objective To adopt Orem self-care model to assestt the dependency care ability of care-givers for surgery orphans and analyze its defective level of dependency case,then propose corresponding nursing policy. Methods 16 caregivers for surgery orphans were surveyed with self-made questionnaire which included the general condition of the caregivers,the nursing situation for orphans and the require-ment for dependency care ability of the caregivers.Results All questionnaires were withdrew.The pro-portion of providing correct primary care for orphans was up to 62.50%~93.75%.But the proportion of pro-viding correct rehabilitation exercises was lower than 43.75%.96% caregivers wished to obtain the relative nursing knowledge by training and improve their dependency care ability.Conclmions The caregivers' dependency care ability can meet the needs of orphans' basic dependency care.But the defect still exists,the nurses should adopt different nursing compensation for different orphans and different care defects.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect and mechanism by which PPARγ ligand, rosiglitasone, regulates the expression of CD40 and intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1) in the rat peritoneal mesothelial cells (RPMCs) induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Methods RPMCs were harvested from Sprague-Dawley rat peritoneal cavity and maintained under defined in vitro conditions. The cells were randomly divided into groups as follows: medium, LPS (5 mg/L), LPS (5 mg/L)+BAY11-7085(5 μmol/L, NF-κB inhibitor), rosiglitazone (10 μmol/L or 20 μmol/L, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ activator), LPS (5 mg/L)+rosiglitazone (10 μmol/L)+GW9662 (3 μmol/L, peroxisome proliferator-aetivatcd receptor γ antagonist), and LPS (5 mg/L)+vehicle (DMSO 0.2 ml/L). The expressions of CD40 and ICAM-1 RNA in RPMCs were examined by RT-PCR after 3 hour treatment, and the protein expressions of CD40, ICAM-1, p-NF-κB p65 and p-IκBα were examined by Western blot or immunofluorescence after 24 hour treatment. Results Following treatment with LPS, both the expressions of CD40 and ICAM-1 protein in RPMCs were up-regulated significantly (P<0.05), and the phosphoralation of p65 was increased greatly (1.10±0.17 vs 0.55±0.06, P<0.05). BAY11-7085 (5 μmol/L) significantly decreased the protein expression of p-p65 (0.22±0.11 vs 1.10±0.17, P<0.01), CD40 (0.34±0.02 vs 0.50±0.06, P<0.05) and ICAM-1 (0.35±0.16 vs 0.74±0.03, P<0.05). Pretreated with rosiglitazone for 3 h then added with LPS for 1 h, the levels of p-p65, CD40 and ICAM-1 in RPMCs were significantly decreased compared with those of LPS group (0.77±0.08 vs 0.90±0.10, P<O.01; 0.79±0.16 vs 0.99±0.06, P<0.05; 0.83±0.20 vs 1.22±0.13, P<0.05). However, for the group pretreated with rosiglitazone(10 μmol/L) and GW9662(3 μmol/L) for 3 h then added with LPS, the levels of p-p65 in RPMCs did not change significantly compared with those of rosiglitazone-pretreated group. The expressions of CD40 and ICAM-1 in RPMCs were significantly increased compared with those of rosiglitazone-pretreated group (0.95±0.19 vs 0.79±0.16, and 1.04±0.24 vs 0.83±0.20, P<0.05). Conclusion Rosiglitazone can decrease LPS-induced expression of CD40 and ICAM-1 in RPMCs by inhibition of NF-κB activation, which suggests that rosiglitazone may mediate its antiinflammatory effect through a NF-κB dependent mechanism.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the expression of CD40 and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) treated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in rat peritoneal mesothelial cells(RPMC) and the role of NF-κB signal transduction pathway. Methods RPMCs were harvested from Sprague-Dawley rat peritoneal cavity and maintained under defined in vitro conditions. The cells were exposed respectively to different concentrations of LPS for 12 h or treated with LPS (5 μg/ml) for different time points. To observe the effect of LPS on the expression of CD40 and ICAM-1, the RPMCs were treated with LPS (5 μg/ml) for different time points. To observe the effect of LPS on the expression of NF-κB and p-NF-κB protein, the RPMCs were treated by LPS or pretreated with BAY11-7085 (5 μmol/L or 1 μmol/L ) for 3 h, then treated with LPS for another 3 h, respectively. Expression of CD40 and ICAM-1 mRNA was examined by RT-PCR. Expression of NF-κB and p-NF-κB protein was detected by Western blot. Results Compared with medium control group, stimulation of RPMCs with 1 μg/ml and 5 μg/ml of LPS resulted in a significant increase in the expression of CD40 and ICAM-1 mRNA(P<0.05). 10 μg/ml of LPS had strongest effect on CD40 and ICAM-1 expression compared with that of 1 μg/ml and 5 μg/ml of LPS. Treatment with 5 μg/ml of LPS resulted in time-dependent increase in the gene level of CD40 and ICAM-1, with the peak at 3 h. However, after that time point, the gene level of them was gradually attenuated. Following treatment with LPS (5 μg/ml), the level of p-NF-κB began to increase at 15 min, gradually reached the peak at 1 h, and then decreased. But the level of p-NF-κB at 2 h was still significantly higher than that of medium control. 5 μmol/L of BAY11-7085 decreased significantly the up-regulation of CD40 and ICAM-1 induced by LPS. Conclusion LPS enhanced the expression of CD40 and ICAM-1 on RPMCs in a concentration-dependent and a time-dependent manner. LPS induced expression of CD40 and ICAM-1 depend on the NF-κB signal transduction pathway.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of CT in diagnosis of pulmonary blastoma (PB).Methods 10 patients with surgically and pathologically proved PB were collected in this study,and CT findings of the tumors were retrospectively analyzed. Results Of 10 cases,1 were central form (the tumors localized under pleura) and 9 was periphery form.The tumors were localized at right lobus in 6( including upper lobus,middle and lower lobus in 1,1 and 4,respectively) and left lobus in 4(upper lobus in 3 and lower lobus in one).The lesions were more than 3 cm in diameters in all cases.Necrosis of tumors were seen in 7 cases.The lesions had obvious enhancement after intravenous injection of contrast medium.Enlarged lymph nodes were identified at hilum of the lung and mediastinum in one,bony destruction and distant metastases were seen in one and 2,respectively.Conclusion PB is not of characteristic CT features,CT-guided percutaneous needle biopsy and the immunohistochemical method are helpful to the diagnosis of pulmonary blastoma.
